God often uses a particular song to speak deeply to me and recently He's done it again in a very big way. Maybe you remember last April when I entitled one of my posts "I'm Worn" and I shared the song by Tenth Avenue North and how the lyrics of "I'm Worn" spoke so profoundly to me. I was about to embark on my first big adventure with my health and it was in that post that I shared the details of what was to come. That post went on to be my most viewed blog post of all time, with almost 6,000 page views. Since then many of you have texted me anytime the song comes on your radio, telling me that I was on your mind and that you were praying for me. I still love that song and it will always have deep meaning for me. When I hear it, I'm immediately taken back to this time last year when I was facing what I thought would be the biggest challenge of my life. Little did I know what was to come.
Here we are, exactly a year later and the Lord has laid a new song on my heart and given it new meaning for me. The lyrics of this song weigh heavy on my heart and in my mind each and every time I hear them. Listen, and then I'll tell you why.......
Isaiah 61:3 says
"To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion,

Though I tend to forget it, truly the Lord is making something beautiful out of this mess I've found myself in. He is making me "new" in more ways than one. Not only will He restore my body to health, but He has made my mind and my heart new through this whole experience. THIS is my testimony! This trial which I am enduring is proving to be a blessing in disguise. Had my assurance never been tested and my faith not been stretched, I would have missed out on the blessing of seeing God's mighty hand at work in my life and ultimately I would have denied HIM the glory in all of it!

So, I officially declare this my new song for 2014 and the challenges that are sure to come. I am ready to be made new and for something beautiful to come out of the dust!

I will always think of you when I hear it and remember how you let God shine through your trials and a journey that most of us will never know first hand, You have always been so beautiful on the outside and now that beauty is shining through, the light of God.
