Kyndall decided a few months ago that she wanted to give cheerleading a try (in addition to ballet, tap, jazz and piano!) so I signed her up for Medina's city league and she was placed on a squad according to her age group. Since she is so young, her team cheers for the boys her age who are playing flag football. As she gets older she will move on to cheering for tackle football. She cheers for the Titans and they had their first game yesterday.
Growing up, I spent all of my time in dance so I have absolutely zero experience with cheerleading. I was actually kind of dreading the start of the season because I knew it would mean we are obligated to be up, dressed and out of the house every Saturday morning and spending our day on the football field. Call me selfish, but I much prefer those 4:30 dance classes which you don't have to get up early for and they take place in the comfort of the AC! However, I have to admit that yesterday was a lot of fun and I think Kyndall has found something she really enjoys! She loves dance, but she has to really work at it. Cheerleading seems to come more naturally to her. (Maybe it's because the goal of cheerleading is to never stop moving and bouncing and jumping and yelling and she's pretty darn good at those things!)
We had group pictures at 10:00 in the morning, a game at 1:00 and then at 3:00, the cheerleading showcase in which all of the teams performed the group dance they've been working on. It was a long day but so much fun!!
And now, here are more pictures than you ever cared to see but somehow I couldn't stop snapping because they just looked SO cute!
Proud Daddy!
Kyndall is front, right
Check out her facial expression in this one! This is SO her "thing"!
A few videos....
My personal favorite....
Here's what a grumpy cheerleader looks like
Time for the group dance!
Here's the video of the dance. Kyndall is in the middle of the blue group....
She was so proud of herself! When the dance was over she came CHARGING off the field to give me a big hug!!
I think we are officially a "cheer family" now
Kyndall and Haiden--The two cutest cheerleaders in the whole bunch!
We ended the afternoon with a Dippin' Dots treat from the pharmacy downtown!
We have a BUSY week ahead as we prepare for all of our family to arrive for Kyndall's FIFTH birthday next weekend! 5!!! 5??? How is my baby about to be FIVE?! As much as I love doing all of these fun things with her like cheer and dance, I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss her being a baby. Time is not my friend.
I'm not sure I've seen anything cuter!! :)
ReplyDeleteShe is the most adorable cheerleader and so pretty! Blue is her color.
