First Texas SNOW!

We returned from our trip home for Christmas only to have our entire home turned upside down as the painting crew arrived first thing on January 2nd.  As excited as I was to see the end results, the process was a bit much for this organized, OCD neat freak.  At one point I just had to leave as to keep from losing my mind while my entire house was in shambles, but I check in using our security cameras.  After taking a peek I decided it was best just to stay gone!

Thankfully it all turned out OK and I was VERY pleased with the end result.  Eventually, I'll share a post with before and after photos.
In the midst of the painting chaos, we experienced some bitterly cold days here in Forney.  In fact, we even got a light dusting of snow!

I had hoped it would keep snowing until Kyndall got home so I jumped in the car as soon as it was time to get her from school and caught these pretty views as I left the neighborhood....

Since it was FREEZING outside and I had been home on the couch all day, I admittedly drove to the school pick up line in my PJs.  (Actually, I do it a lot if I'm being honest!)  To my surprise, when I got to the school the 5th graders were NOT stationed outside the to help the kids open the car doors like they normally are.  Horror suddenly set in as I realized that without their help, Kyndall would not be able to open the car door.  (Something we're STILL working on)  Poor Kyndall was left standing in the snow until I could contort my body in such a way that allowed me to squeeze all the way to the back door without ever leaving the drivers seat because there was NO way I was jumping out of that car in my pajamas!  My favorite part of this whole video is seeing the puzzled look on her face as she says "a little help?!"  Lesson learned...Do not leave the house unless fully dressed in appropriate attire because you MIGHT be forced out of the car!

As soon as we got home she wanted to dig out her snow gear and go play.  In the meantime, a neighbor who lived across the street from us in Tennessee sent me this picture of our old house as it looked on that very same day.  There's just no comparison...Texas snow just cannot compete with the beauty of Tennessee snow.

Off she goes to play in the snow before it melts away....

It wasn't quite the "snow day" we're used to, but it was still a lot of fun and it was still enough to send us running inside to sit by the fire!

Our tradition after playing in the snow is to come inside and make snow cream but since we couldn't find enough clean snow, we settled for popcorn and hot chocolate instead.

We stayed inside the rest of the evening, watching movies and staying warm.

By the next morning all of the snow was gone and our first Texas snow was over.  It was fun while it lasted!
