Back to School

Before we knew it our wonderful, fun-filled summer had come to an end and it was time to start preparing for FIRST GRADE!

The week before school started we had "meet the teacher night" in which we were able to see Kyndall's classroom, find out who her teacher was and deliver all of her school supplies. It also turned out to be a very sweet reunion with some of her friends that she hadn't seen all summer long.

Kyndall and Bailee

Aubree, Kyndall and Ryann...I call them the triplets!

Meeting her teacher Mrs. Tarrant for the first time

Decorating her locker

Her favorite subject!

Her home away from home

The school provided a sno-cone truck for all the kiddos to enjoy!

Just a few days later it was time for the very first day of school.  Kyndall was excited about starting a new school year but sad to have to get back into a routine.  I felt the very same way!

Up and awake early for the first time since May!

Look how much our baby has grown up in just one short year!

Walking into the first day of first grade with your best friend is a good feeling!

I kissed her goodbye and away I went.  There was no "boo hoo breakfast" this year or a sea of other sympathetic parents who were having a hard time dropping their babies off.  I suppose I was expected to have it all together this year.  But for me, this year actually seemed harder.  It seemed more difficult to leave her and know that she would be spending more of her time with her teacher and classmates than she would with her own family each week.  While I'm so excited to see what a new school year brings, I am also a little sad that my days are no longer filled with all things Kyndall.  I miss her so much during the day and find myself constantly looking at the clock and then checking her class schedule to see what she might be doing throughout the day.

Continuing my tradition, I took this video just after picking her up from her first day...

I know this is going to be a great year and I can't wait to see how much she grows and learns and matures.  But secretly I just wish she could stay little forever!
