First grade has proven itself to be quite different than kindergarten but not necessarily in a bad way. Kyndall has adapted very well and is excelling in all of her subjects while also maintaining great citizenship and conduct scores. She has grown to love her new teacher despite feeling really sad over having to part with her kindergarten teacher. She has made lots of new friends but has also kept close with her initial group of gal pals that she gravitated towards in kindergarten. Overall first grade got off to a great start!
Each year upon entering first grade our church presents each child with their very own Bible. The first grade Bible presentation is kind of a big deal because it symbolizes a time when the children are old enough and responsible to be entrusted with reading, memorizing and living out the scriptures in the Bible they are given. It's a rite of passage and something the kids really look forward to.
Pastor Jimmy called each child up by name and presented them with their Bible

After the presentation, the kids were invited to join the pastor on stage during the service where he presented them to the congregation. The kids were all so excited and so proud of their new treasures!
Here are a few videos of her reciting some of the scripture that she has memorized...
We are so proud of Kyndall and her heart for Jesus! We can't wait to see what amazing plans He has in store for her life.
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future." ~Jeremiah 29:11
The following week we had Kyndall's first grade musical presentation and open house at school. Matthew and I enjoyed seeing her classroom and all the things she's been working on as well as watching her perform on stage with her friends.
Look for the pink bow!

Aubree, Kyndall and Bailee. I love these girls! Such sweet friends.
A few videos of their musical....
Just a few weeks later there was an event at school called Donuts with Dad. Unfortunately Matthew was unable to attend due to work obligations but our sweet, sweet neighbor Dr. Joe stepped up and saved the day by agreeing to be Kyndall's special guest. These two have a precious bond so Kyndall was extra excited to turn it into "Donuts with Dr. Joe". With all of our family being 15 hours away days like this one really remind me that God continues to look out for us by placing special people in our lives who graciously fill the voids no matter how far away from home we may wander. Kyndall is so blessed to have so many friends who love her like family and we are so grateful for these relationships!
I love this!!
I have continued volunteering in the first grade class several days a week the same way I did in the kindergarten class and I also carried on the Friday tradition of having lunch with Kyndall at school. I love being involved and as long as she's excited about me being there I'm going to keep it up because I know that all too soon she won't want me hanging around or having lunch with her. Ugh.
Lastly, here are a couple of my favorite random pictures from my "first grade memories" file...
She was very excited to wear her new Paw Patrol birthday boots to school on a rainy day this past Fall
Thankfully we don't have much homework at all in first grade. None, really and I am SO grateful for that. On this particular night she had a simple assignment but to my surprise she was actually excited to complete it. As I sat next to her my mind flashed forward and I caught a glimpse of "teenager Kyndall" and it made me sad to be reminded how quickly she's growing up. It truly seems like just yesterday that she was the tiniest ballerina in the picture just above her head. She is growing up right before our eyes.
