Grammy and Nonie take Charleston!

Things are just more FUN when the Grandmas are around!  So you can imagine how much fun was had over the past 4 days, as my Mom and Matthew's Mom were both here with us!  The "real" reason they came was to help out with Kyndall during my procedure, which I had on Thursday morning.  That was just a small bump in the road, and then we were on to bigger and better things.  But, for those of you who are interested, here's the update on my health:

I had one of my yearly colonoscopies in March and things didn't look good at all.  You can read more about it HERE.  At that time, they found several suspicious areas that were very concerning to the doctors who are studying my case and taking care of me.  Because of my high risk for developing colon cancer, they decided to re-check those areas again in six months, which was this past Thursday.  I am happy and thankful to report that things looked somewhat better, but most importantly there was no sign of cancer!!  Thank you Lord, our prayers were answered!    Once that was over, we spent the rest of our time packing in as much fun as possible.......

Hanging out and taking it easy on Thursday afternoon while I recovered from the morning

On Friday, Mom, myself, Mrs. Jody and Kyndall hit the outlet mall and had lunch at McAlister's while Matthew was at work

Just a FEW of the many goodies that Nonie and Grammy bought for Kyndall

These pictures were taken Friday afternoon and I had to share them because I just love the vast array of facial expressions I got from her!
The many faces of Kyndall Anne Hughes......

Friday night we were blessed to have the Marchant family babysit Kyndall so that me and Matthew and both of our Moms could go see the movie Courageous.  BIG thanks to Wendy, Freddy and their 3 sweet boys for taking such good care of Kyndall, and giving us a chance to see the movie!  By the way, if you haven't seen Courageous, you MUST take time to watch it!  It's produced by Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, GA.  That's the same church that made Facing the Giants and Fireproof, which are also great movies.  As we were walking up purchase our movie on Friday night, we were greeted by a group of people from a church here in Summerville who offered us free tickets!  They had rented out the whole theater and were offering free tickets to anyone who wanted to see Courageous.  What a great ministry and what a blessing to us!

Wendy and Kyndall, wearing her PJ's and all ready for bed!

Saturday morning we slept in a little bit and then headed into downtown Charleston for a fun day of shopping and sight seeing.  We started with lunch at one of our favorite restaurants, Fleet Landing......

Kyndall got a little impatient with the wait time
Ordering her own lunch =)

Full from a yummy lunch and ready to explore one of our favorite shopping spots----the market!

You can't go into downtown Charleston and not stop here.......

And you CAN'T leave there without your very own MoonPie and RC Cola!

Wonder why she's smiling so funny?  She had just gotten her very first taste of a chocolate MoonPie!  She also got this at the market.......

I've been on the hunt for a pretty church sweater for Kyndall to wear during the cooler months.  I had no luck at any of the usual places, but was surprised to find a lady who sold hand smocked kids clothes right there in the market!  And as if it wasn't adorable enough, here's my favorite part.......

We had a great day, but it wasn't over yet!  I really wanted to get some family pictures of the three of us while my Mom was here to take them for us.  So, after a quick wardrobe change, we were off to the local pumpkin patch!  Kyndall wasn't in the best of moods, but I think we got some pretty cute shots.  You know how much I love comparison pictures, so take a look at us this time last year......

Same pumpkin patch, one year later.........

Sunday morning we got up early and went to the first service at church so that Nonie and Grammy could get an early start back to Tallahassee.  I had been looking forward to this morning's service because I knew that Alex Kendrick was scheduled to be speaking at our church!  For those that don't know, Alex Kendrick is the Associate Pastor at Sherwood Baptist Church, and he is also the producer and lead actor in Courageous, as well as all of the other movies Sherwood has made.  It was so amazing to hear how God gave him a vision of making Christian-based, family friendly movies many years ago, and then opened the doors for it to happen.  He challenged all of the Fathers in the congregation to take the Courageous oath, just like they did in the movie, and to start being the spiritual leaders of the home, just as God has called them to be.  It was a powerful testimony and I have to admit, I was a little bit star struck when I saw him standing on our stage.  Although, he will quickly tell you that it's not about him---he is just the vessel that God chose to use to share His message with the world.

After church, we had breakfast at Cracker Barrel before saying goodbye to Nonie and Grammy......

I love the back of this dress.....

My happy girl!

We had a GREAT few days and we were sad to see it come to an end.  Thanks to Grammy and Nonie for spoiling us with goodies all weekend and for all of your help with Kyndall!  See you again in two weeks!

Oh, and did anyone notice this change??  Whatcha think?  I'm still getting used to it, but I think I like it!
