Last night (1/31/13) we received our very first snow here in Jackson! Even though it wasn't much, it was enough to get this Floridian excited! Here are a few pictures I took on my phone last night before going to bed, when it was just starting to fall.............
By the time Kyndall and I got up this morning (around 9:00), a lot of it had already melted off. But there was still enough on the ground to make a pretty view of the neighborhood from my front porch!
Our House
I opened up all the blinds so that Kyndall could see how pretty the yard was. The dogs were quite intrigued as well!
After much begging and whining, I finally decided to be a nice Mommy and let Kyndall go out for just a few minutes and see the snow up close and personal. Afterall, what's so special about your first snow if you can't even touch it?? It was about 25 degrees outside so we didn't stay long and she never left the comfort of the driveway.
Daddy's truck bumper made the perfect play spot!
It got pretty chilly out there so we decided to bring the snow inside!
We even made a mini snowman! Kind of.............
The last time I saw snow fall (and really the ONLY other time to speak of) was Valentine's Day weekend of 2010 when we were living in Charleston, SC. It's extremely rare for it to snow there, but it did that year and it was SO pretty! Funny to think that was almost three years ago to the day!
(Side note---I was about 6 weeks pregnant with Kyndall here, but it was still our little secret!)

For Charleston, this was a LOT of snow!
Our little townhouse looked so pretty
I guess technically THIS was Kyndall's first snow, but she only experienced it from the warmth of my belly!
The bummer about a snow day is that once you're done playing in the snow, you're pretty much stuck inside for the rest of the day. So, I got creative and used one of the many cardboard moving boxes we have lying around to let Kyndall create a masterpiece
While she did that, I FINALLY got to work on hanging some pictures around the house. I have SO....MANY.....PICTURES.....! (Probably not shocking) Decorating is my favorite part of moving to a new house, but unfortunately I am just now getting around it it. I MADE myself get all of the "not fun" stuff out of the way the first two weeks we were here----Emptying boxes, throwing things away, organizing closets, etc. Now I can really have fun!
I found this frame at Kirkland's in the clearance room for $7!
My friend Lindsey D. made this FSU ribbon wreath and I am proudly displaying my NOLE colors up here amongst all of this horrid orange that I'm seeing around town!
While I'm at the blog, I might as well share another "first". Last Sunday was our first day of visiting churches around Jackson. We chose Englewood Baptist and we both really liked it! I do hope this is where our family ends up planting itself because it's full of young families like ours who seem to just be DYING to become our friends! (Seriously! I've received two phone calls, an e-mail and a even post card from various people in the church welcoming us! I LOVE that!)
I promise I didn't tease her hair for our first day of church---It's just a serious case of bedhead! She looks very 80's-ish to me in these pictures for some reason. I guess it's the big hair, side pony and sparkly tights.....?? Definitely didn't see that at the time. Now I'm sort of cringing!
I'll be back with more "firsts" next week, including Kyndall's very first day of pre-school!!!

Cutest mini snowman I've ever seen! Did she call her Betsy? ;)
ReplyDeleteI happen to LIKE the 80's look and the big hair...in case you haven't noticed!!! Love the snow pics....wish we could get there when it snowed! Keep the blogs coming!
