On Friday, Matthew turned the big 3-2 and his parents came up Thursday night to spend the weekend with us. This was their first visit to our new home in Tennessee and we were happy to have them!
We were hoping to take Matthew out to lunch on Friday for his birthday, but he got tied up at the terminal and couldn't get away. So, I asked him what he wanted me to bring him. His answer???........A McRib from McDonald's!!!! GROSS! Of all the things you could choose for your birthday lunch?! But, it was his birthday so I obliged. Much to his disappointment, they no longer had the McRib and he had to settle for a cheeseburger. Still a pretty lame birthday lunch if you ask me! I also stopped by and picked up some balloons and decorations to use for embarrassment purposes.
Matthew's account manager, Pam, brought a cake for everyone to share
When he got home from work, he opened his gifts before we headed out to dinner
New Docs from his parents
$$$ from my parents
My little neat freak cleaned up all of the wrapping paper and placed it in the box. That's my girl!
We went to dinner at Old Town Spaghetti Store which is a local Italian restaurant that we've been hearing good things about. The dinner was great and the wait time sure beat the 90 minute wait at Outback!!! After dinner we came home for cake!
This year I got ambitious and made Matthew's cake myself. I had some extra time and thought "why not?" This new pre-school routine is a wonderful thing, I tell ya! =)

Saturday morning, Matthew and his Dad played golf together. Here's Matthew with his birthday gift from me (and Valentine's Day gift and Anniversary gift and Father's Day gift and....and....and......!!!) A new set of golf clubs......
Later that night Nonie and Poppie watched Kyndall while Matthew and I took his new leadership staff out to dinner. It was nice meeting all of his co-workers and their spouses and as always, it was nice to enjoy a dinner that didn't include any tantrums.
Sunday morning was rainy and cold, but we braved the elements and headed out to church. I tried REALLY hard to get a good picture of Kyndall in her new dress, but as usual it proved to be quite a challenge......
Following church and lunch, we came home and let Kyndall open her Valentine's Day gifts from Nonie and Poppie........
The card plays the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme song, which is Kyndall's favorite! We had a hard time getting her to put the card down and open the REAL gift!
This stuffed animal plays a recording of Nonie and Poppie's voices when you press her tummy. So cute and she loves it! She's been sleeping with it and at random times though the baby monitor I will hear familiar voices saying "Hugs and kisses from Nonie and Poppie!"
No Valentine's Day gift is complete without some sugar!
Thanks, Nonie and Poppie!
She also got Minnie Mouse socks, V-Day PJs, candy, cookies, stickers and a sandwich cutter that makes sandwiches into the shape of trains. (Hoping this will help with the lunchtime dilemma at pre-school!)
We had a great weekend and we were sad to see Matthew's parents leave this morning. Kyndall was especially sad, which broke my heart. She stood in the driveway waving and saying in the most pitiful voice...."Nonie, Poppie...Nonie, Poppie.....Nonie, Poppie....." =( I hate living so far away from our families but hopefully someday soon it will be a thing of the past. For now, we are looking forward to our next visitors which will be my parents who are coming up in mid-March for their first visit to our new home!

I tried taking some pictures of everyone before going to dinner, but Kyndall did NOT cooperate and in fact, had to be cropped out of these pictures because she was throwing a fit on the floor in front of us. =)

We just hung out and relaxed the rest of the night while Kyndall enjoyed having Nonie and Poppie's undivided attention

Lots of random comments:
ReplyDelete-For some reason the pic of the cake with one piece already eaten made me laugh. =)
-Love her cleaning up the wrapping paper!
-Did Matthew lose weight overnight? Lol-he looked thin in that white t-shirt, especially in his face, but then I went back up and didn't notice it in he pics above that.
-I think the church dress pics are GREAT!!
Funny comments! =) I was shocked there was only THAT much of the cake gone by the time I arrived at noon! Matthew hasn't lost any weight (the opposite actually!) but I will tell him you thought so....even if for just a second! Must have been the way he was standing with his arms on the counter and a good camera angle. =) I should show you the church dress pics I DIDN'T post!!!! You know for every halfway decent shot there are twice as many bad ones!
DeleteOmgoodness what a wonderful time we had. we loved your home and Jackson is a great town. We miss y'all already and we haven't even made it back to Georgia.
ReplyDeleteLove to you,
Nonie
I too loved the pic of her cleaning up the paper....typical..wondering where she gets it and where you (oh did I say 'you'?) get it? LOL!!! Looks like ya'll had a great time and I love the bunny that she got!! How cute is that? Can't wait for our trip up there...it can't come fast enough...just wish I could click my red sparkly shoes together and get there!!
