Yesterday was Kyndall's first day of 4-K Preschool....Or as I like to say, her very last first day of preschool, EVER! Whhhaaaaa!!!! This time next year we'll be starting kindergarten and this Mama just can't believe it.
For the third year, Kyndall will attend part-time preschool at our church. Shes goes two days a week which is the perfect balance for us. We LOVE this program and have been so happy with it. I especially love the fact that many of her church friendships overlap into her school friendships and she is able to see the same kiddos several days a week.
We declared last Friday a "Mommy and Kyndall day" and I let her choose any activity she wanted in order to enjoy our very last day of summer together. She chose to go see a movie....

The day before school started we made a trip to the store to gather school supplies and I let her choose a nail polish and promised to give her a pedicure for the first day of school.
This is my indecisive child being completely overwhelmed by all of the choices in Wal-Mart. I'm not lying when I tell you we stood there for 15 minutes and even still, she changed her mind AGAIN once we walked away.
She chose pink and green because she said they are "Mommy's favorite colors".
I would never make it as a nail tech. I'm pretty good at the painting part but not so good at drawing itty bitty pictures on microscopic little toenails. She wanted K's and "waves". Here is my attempt.....
She had a hard time settling down that night and it was nearly 11:30 when she finally fell asleep. I was dreading the next morning, especially since she's been sleeping until 10 a.m. or later all summer long! Thankfully she wasn't too much of a bear when I woke her up for her first day. She was excited!
More than anything, she was MOST excited about her new lunchbox. Last week when her BFF Caroline was here visiting from Texas they bought matching lunchboxes at Justice and she's been dying to use it ever since. She wouldn't even let me put it in her backpack. She wanted to hold it.
Daddy wasn't able to join us this year for the first day because of obligations at work. There were a few tears as I dropped her off which is very unusual but I have to remind myself she's had a lot of changes over the past few months and a lot of things have been out of her control. She sometimes has a hard time with change because of this. It's nothing a few hugs and the promise of an afternoon treat couldn't fix.
When I picked her up she was a completely different child. She was laughing and playing and hugging all of her friends goodbye. Mrs. Whitney said she had a great day and even told me a few funny things Kyndall said......
"Guyyyysssss be careful, you're going to mess up my nails!"
Then she told Mrs. Whitney that her nap mat was making he hair tangled and therefore she couldn't lay down. Mrs. Whitney said that's by far the best excuse she's ever heard!
My child is such a girl. Shocking, I know.
As promised I arrived with an afternoon treat in the form of a small bag of candy corns, which she proceeded to share with all of her schoolmates and their Mamas as we walked down the hall to the parking lot. I love that she gets joy out of sharing with others!
After school it was time for dance---Ballet and tap on this day. She was excited to wear her new leotards for the first time.
It was a LONG day and we didn't get home until after 6:00 that night. Considering the fact that our summer has been pretty low key, I was already bracing myself for the meltdown that was sure to take place that evening. Instead, she ate her dinner and then asked if she could play on her ipad for a few minutes. After I cleaned up from dinner I walked into the living room to find this......
Bless it! Her little body was worn out from the busy day.
While we were driving to school yesterday morning I asked her a few "first day of school" questions and I wanted to document her answers because some of them are pretty darn funny!
"What is your favorite part of school?"
"Coloring and playing outside"
"Who is your best friend at school?"
"Madison and Cole"
"What is your favorite color now?"
"Pink"
"What is your favorite food?"
"Sandwiches---Banana Sandwiches with lots of mayonaise"
"What do you want to be when you grow up?"
"I want to be a Mommy who works. But not like you. I want to GO to work like Daddy."
"Ok, well where do you want to GO when you go to work?"
"I want to work at a dentist's office but not like you. I want to work at the checkout desk. I don't want to look in peoples' mouths like you, Mommy. That's gross, Mommy, that's really gross. Mommy.....you're gross." (I am SO glad I could inspire my daughter in this way! Geez!)
"What is something you really like?"
"Minions"
"What is something you really don't like?"
"Ham"
"What is your favorite thing about yourself?"
"I really love my long hair"
Here's a little after school interview I did with her at the end of the day.....
And lastly, here are a few pictures from her first day in years past. I never realize how much she has changed until I look back and then I'm reminded of how fast she's growing up on me!
2013--We moved to Jackson in January and Kyndall started preschool for the very first time!
2013-2014 School Year
2014-2015 School year
We didn't know it but just a few days later Mommy would get her new liver!
I know parents say it all the time but I truly can't believe we are about to have a FIVE year old. Time is going by way too fast and there's not one thing I can do about it except to enjoy every single second. So, that's what I plan to do! I love you more than life itself, Kyndall Anne Hughes!

LOVE all the pictures and the interview questions- too cute! Little 2.5 yr old Kyndall melts my heart. Glad she had a good first day of school!
