Earlier this year Kyndall decided she wanted to add piano lessons to her many extracurricular activities. We signed her up, bought a piano and today she had her very first recital.
I've been asking her for several days if she was nervous or excited and she just said "I'm excited about wearing my fancy dress and taking my bow on the stage." She stood firm that she was not feeling anxious at all, which is quite different from my own memories of piano. I never even performed in a single piano recital because I was SO nervous and couldn't handle the stress leading up to it. I'm glad she has such confidence in herself. Makes a Mommy's heart proud.
She had one last practice on Thursday and she was excited to play on "the big stage" in our church....
She made two requests:
She wanted a "new dress that would twirl" and she wanted her hair curled. Last Friday we went shopping at the mall and although it took every fiber of my being not to override her decision, I let her choose the "perfect" dress for the occasion. I also attempted to curl her hair this morning but the rainy weather got the best of that idea and we decided to forget it.
(She always has to have one crazy picture)
My favorite!!
My parents gave her this rocking chair on her FIRST birthday! Booooo hooooo!!
Did I mention it was freezing cold and raining? She refused to put a sweater on with her sleeveless dress.
Kyndall and Lillian are the sweetest of friends. They are in the same class at school and they have back to back piano lessons every Wednesday afternoon. Plus, they see a ton of each other at church. Kyndall can't get enough of Lillian!
Waiting with Daddy for the recital to begin
When it was her turn, she walked right up on the stage, took her bow and played "I love my Candy Cane" just like we practiced. She did great!!
Kyndall loves Mrs. Molly and we will miss her while she's on maternity leave to have her sweet baby boy! Today was our last day with her for a while.
We are proud of our girl!!!
Here's a video that I took of her playing her song. She plays so softly that you can barely hear the music, but rest assured those little fingers were moving and she was playing the whole time! My favorite is her final bow, followed by a little "leap" off the step. Mercy.
After the recital was over we came home and quickly packed her up for her very first sleepover birthday party. It's hard to believe how fast she's growing up. I love seeing her experience all of these "firsts" but it's just a reminder that time is passing more quickly than I would like. I'm trying to savor every moment.
We have just a few days left before we'll be DISNEY BOUND for Kyndall's very first trip to the Magic Kingdom!!! We are losing our minds with excitement!!

You are such an amazing mother and you and Matthew are giving her such a wonderful childhood filled with so many sweet memories. Kyndall is one lucky little girl. I know you all will have an awesome time at Disney. Doris Davis
ReplyDeleteI LOVED IT! How fun and exciting and KA oozed confidence. KA looked marvelous in her new dress...which not only "twirls" but has a lot of "bling"! (I'm very partial to red with sequins.) Jodi G
