Ready for breakfast, and not wanting her picture taken!
When we all met back up a few hours later, we let Kyndall play in the back yard since it was a GORGEOUS day! It almost felt like fall outside, with a cool breeze and not a cloud in the sky. It was perfect.
Kyndall perched herself on the back doorstep and decided to watch the neighbor cut his grass. (You know, she loves anything with wheels!!) I love this series of facial expressions I caught......Although it kind of makes me sad as well. She looks SO much like a little girl in these pictures, and not like a baby at all. =(
Saturday night, we decided to beat the Sunday crowd and celebrate Father's Day a little early with dinner at The Okra Grill. My friend Leigh introduced us to this place a few years ago when I was pregnant with Kyndall. It's about a 30 mile drive from our house, so we only go there on special occasions. We ate there last year on Father's Day as well.
Again, not in the mood for pictures
After a yummy down home southern dinner, we drove over to the Isle Of Palms for an evening stroll along the beach and some daddy/daughter pictures in honor of Father's Day.
I'm sorry there are so many! Believe it or not, I've already narrowed them down twice!
Getting brave........
It's not the beautiful white sugar sand of the Gulf that this Florida family is used to, but it will do!
With the very first wave, down she went!
Daddy to the rescue
If her clothing was any indication of how much fun she had, I'd say she had a BLAST! We had to strip her down into nothing but a diaper for the car ride home! Darn that icky Atlantic beach mud sand. We miss the Gulf!!!
Sadly, Kyndall woke up this morning not feeling 100%. I think my poor sweet girl caught the cold that I had last week. We decided to skip out on church because one of my biggest Mama pet-peeves is people who send their kids to church nursery when they're sick. It's not fair to go spreading those germs to all her little friends, so we went to lunch and grocery shopping instead.
When Kyndall woke up, she helped Daddy open his cards and gift
Kyndall was SO proud of this card! She really did pick it out herself. As I was searching for the perfect card, I picked this one up and she immediately started shouting "bi!" "bi!" "bi!" (her word for bike) Since bikes and trucks and motorcycles are her thing, I decided this was the one. When she saw it again today, she started shouting "bi!" all over again!
Matthew picked out his Father's Day gift a few weeks ago (an electric smoker), but I wanted him to have something special today. So, I got creative and made him this gift from Kyndall......
In case you couldn't read it, here's what it said.........
"Dear Daddy, please take 5 minutes and let me tell you why I love you good and plenty. I wanted to give you 100 grand for Father's Day, but Mommy wants to save your payday for a shopping spree to New York instead. Anyway, I love you because together we act like goobers and we get really silly. You are extra special to me because we have mounds of fun with each other. I really like it when you spin me around in the air like I'm orbiting around the milky way. You are a whopper of a Daddy to me and I think you're the best. I like to think that me, you and Mommy are like 3 muskateers and I love it when we all spend time together. Don't let those fun memories slip through your butterfinger. Mommy thinks you're a hot tamale, so I hope this gift doesn't make you rolover and get chunky. I love you Daddy and I hope that you have a very happy Father's Day! Love, your BabyRuth"
I was bummed that we didn't get to spend Father's Day together as a family at church, but we enjoyed a nice lunch together, some grocery shopping and then some afternoon playtime in the yard. It was a good day!
Here were my two loves on Father's Day weekend last year........

I've said it before, but I'll say it again. Matthew is a fantastic husband to me and a wonderful Daddy to Kyndall. He does so much for our little family and we are forever grateful to the Lord for giving him to us! I couldn't ask for anything more! I look forward to seeing the father/daughter relationship between Kyndall and Matthew grow even stronger as she gets older. I have a feeling she'll always be a Daddy's girl!
First steps on the beach for Kyndall, right? My FAVORITE is the one with her back to the camera looking out at the water and seeig her shadow. Artistic and a beautifully captured moment in time!
ReplyDeletewow....these are great....so many favorites. You are getting quite good with your new camera and so is Matthew....!! I can't believe how much she has changed...she almost looks 'chubby' in the pic from last year and I have never thought of her at chubby at all!! These are just great pics. We thank God for Matthew too, but also for you! Your little family was meticulously created by God and it shows!
ReplyDeletelove,
Grammy
Adorable! All of it! I especially love the card, too clever! :)
ReplyDeleteLove it all. I think that my favorite is the one of you swinging her (angle shot in black and white). Love the Okra grill. I said it on your last blog and I will say it again...this ALMOST makes me miss Charleston. :)
ReplyDeleteHow in the world are you as prepared as you are? I mean, you have your bucket and sand toys with you for the post-dinner beach trip. I would have forgotten everything. Twin brain, I guess.
Oh, and I love the watermelon dress.
