Food + Family + Fireworks = A Fun Fourth!

Tuesday afternoon, we packed up and headed south to spend the next five days on a mini-vacation in Tallahassee/Thomasville with our families.  I call it a vacation because Matthew actually took two days off from work, which he rarely does.  Although Kyndall and I make the trek quite often, he hasn't gone with us on an extended visit (more than just a weekend) since Christmas.  We spent the first half of our "vacation" at my parents' house in Tallahassee.  Wednesday was the 4th of July, so we spent most of the day just lounging in the pool and relaxing.

Kyndall and Aunt Kelly are best buds

Welcome to Aunt Kelly's swim school.......

Kyndall got pretty brave and even jumped off the edge a few times!!

Later that afternoon, Matthew's parents joined us for a hamburger cookout, complete with cupcakes and ice cold watermelon for dessert!  My favorite!!!

After dinner, Kyndall did some 4 wheelin' in the front yard before we headed off to watch the fireworks

She was very bothered by this stick in the driveway and kept running it over

Rewind to last year's family picture.............

Kelly and Michael

We decided to try something new this year, so we went over to Northwoods Baptist Church for their free, family friendly (aka no obnoxious drunks) 4th of July celebration.  They had bounce houses for the kids, a free Christian concert, food and some GREAT fireworks!  It was a lot of fun, and I think we may start doing this every year!

Being the truck lover that she is, Kyndall wanted to check out the fire truck first thing......

Cute picture, minus some random kid's feet!!

Our Crew...........

A few of the kids had sparklers and Kyndall was very interested in them!  However, she kept her distance and kept reminding us over and over that they were "hot"..........

Kyndall wasn't too sure about the fireworks.  She didn't cry, but kept saying "no, no"......which was promptly followed by a very excited "mo, mo!!" (more).  She just couldn't decide!  She went from lap to lap and despite being very sleepy, seemed to enjoyed the show!

It was a fun day!  We spent the next four days enjoying some good family time between Thomasville and Tallahassee.  I took lots of pictures, and hope to have them posted shortly!  I hope that everyone had a happy and safe 4th of July!
