All Because Two People Fell in Love.......

"There ain't nothin' not affected

When two hearts get connected
All that is, will be, or ever was
Every single choice we make
Every breath we get to take
Is all because two people feel in love......

I'm glad your dad could not resist
Your mama's charms and you exist
All because two people fell in love

You know, to me it's all so clear
Every one of us is here
All because two people fell in love"

I'm sure most of you have heard that Brad Paisley song many times, but every single time I hear it I think of my Grandparents and Great Grandparents.  The words are so true.....every single one of us is here on this Earth all because two people fell in love.  That is mind boggling to me if I really sit and think about it, but in a really neat way!

Every June my entire extended family on my Grandmother's side gathers at my Grandparents' house in Two Egg, FL for our annual Hart Family Reunion.  My Great Grandma and Great Granddaddy Hart would be so proud to know that we are still continuing this tradition, all these years later.  My Great Grandparents had five children (my Grandma's generation)......and each of those children had several children (my Mom's generation)......then those children had children (my generation).....and now many of us have had children of our own (Kyndall's generation).  Following me??  =)  Anyway, it's a BIG gathering to say the least and everyone looks forward to it each summer.  We have a huge fish fry, complete with all the fixins'----cheese grits, cole slaw, baked beans, hush puppies, and all the desserts you could ever need or want!!  Top it off with some sweet tea and you're set!  We had about 80 people this year, which was a great turn out! Only a few were missing.

Just like every other year, there was no lacking for good food, pleasant conversation, cute babies, love, laughter, heat (we nearly die every year!) and GNATS!!  (Welcome to the country!)

Sweet Bryce

This family can't eat fried fish without PICKLES!!

This year was particularly special because of my Granddaddy's recent health prognosis.  Unless the Lord performs a miracle, this was likely his last family reunion ever.  Many of the family members said goodbye to him knowing they probably won't see him again.  So hard to even think about.

Because he doesn't have much energy, he spent a lot of the day inside in the cool air, and the family members came in and sat with him throughout the day.

Boys and dirt---like moths to a flame!!

My Grandma on the right (Vera) and one of her sisters, Beth (my Great Aunt)

The cooks, frying up some catfish, bream and hush puppies!

This was Sydney's first ever (hopefully first of many!) Hart Family reunions!  =)  She's my cousin Jeffrey's girlfriend and she fits into our family just perfectly!

My Grandma and her only brother, my Great Uncle James

Eventually, Granddaddy felt up to coming outside for a while and we were all happy to see him do so.  Love him so much!!

Even though it's not their side of the family, my Granddaddy's brother and sister came too (My Great Aunt Lenora and my Great Uncle Max)

Kyndall loves Carrie!  =)

Sweet cousins, Garrison and Kyndall (born only 6 days apart!)

Whoa, now!!  We don't need any kissin' cousins!!

These two are quite a pair!

It was good to see Granddaddy get his appetite back and enjoy some fried fish, his favorite!

I don't claim this guy as family.  He dressed all FOUR of his sons in those awful colors that day!!

You can always find Carrie with the kiddos!

Mmmmmm.......cheese grits!

After lunch, everyone congregated in the pool to cool off and escape the heat!

Michael and Matthew

Sydney and Bryce

We enjoyed ice cold lime-aid while we hung out by the pool---So good on a hot day!!

It's just not a family reunion without a few games of HORSE around the basketball hoop.....

Vera, Mary Alice, Beth and James---The Hart siblings (Just missing sweet Aunt Dorothy who is no longer with us)

Granddaddy and his five Grandchildren (I'm the oldest, followed by Katie, Kelly, Carrie and then Jeffrey)

Grandma and Granddaddy with their Grandchildren and our spouses (or girlfriend, in Jeffrey's case! )  =)

Adding in the Great Grands.......Just had to throw this one in there because it makes me laugh so hard every time I see it!  =)

Grandma and Granddaddy with their Grandkids/Spouses and Great Grandkids

The whole crew---Four generations!

These two will celebrate 57 years of marriage next Saturday

BEST. PICTURE. EVER.

The original Basford Family

I ADORE this picture!!!

That night, after everyone was gone, Kyndall and I gave Matthew his Father's Day gifts.  Even though it was a week early, he would be leaving the next morning and we wouldn't see him the following weekend on Father's Day. =(

The reunion was great and it was wonderful seeing so many of our family members that we only see once a year at this annual gathering.  Family means everything to me so these types of  memories are among my most treasured.

  2. Your family is wonderful. Seeing the pics of your grandparents reminded me of mine who are no longer with us. My grandparents were very much in love and celebrated their 57th anniversary before my grandpa passed. Definitely made me tear up a little!
