Out with the Old.....

Yesterday Matthew decided (on a whim) that while we were out and about, we should stop by the Nissan dealership and look at new cars for me.  I was in no way wanting to buy a new vehicle.  I was completely happy with my 7 year old, good condition, PAID OFF Trailblazer that I've had since I graduated college in 2005.  But, I agreed to go "look".  About six hours later, we were driving home with this........

It's a 2012 Nissan Pathfinder and it suits our family's needs perfectly.  We really needed something a little bigger than my Trailblazer that included a 3rd row, but not anything so gigantic that we'd go broke just filling it up with gas.  It's got way more gadgets than I'll ever need or use, such as satellite radio, a Bose sound system, Blue Tooth, a back-up cam, leather interior, and that crazy feature where it has no actual car key.  (I honestly don't even know what that's called!)  Definitely fancier than anything I would have ever picked out, but it was a great deal and we couldn't pass it up.

One word of advice :  Never ever ever never under any circumstances attempt to buy a car with a toddler in tow!!!  She completely missed her nap, which made for an interesting afternoon at the dealership!  By the time we left, the owner of the dealership had handed over his iPhone and taught her to play Angry Birds.  Yeah, it was that kind of a day and we were those people!!  But I have to admit that SIX HOURS is a very long time, and all things considered it could have been worse.  I'm not really sure how, but I'm telling myself it could have!

Maybe this sounds silly, but I was really sad to say goodbye to my old car.  It was the first big purchase I ever made as a single, working adult right out of college.  I've made a lot of good memories with that car over the past 7 years and I hated to drive away and leave it behind.  By the time I signed my life away and finally walked outside to clean my things out, they had already taken my tag off and replaced it with a dealership tag. Even though my initials were still on the back window, it was no longer mine.........Tear..........  =(

Kyndall didn't seem to mind saying goodbye to my car at all......
(It looks like she's picking her nose, but she's actually waving bye bye to the car)

What an exciting, stressful, sad, happy, day!  We are very blessed and extremely thankful for everything we have been given.  We have all that we need and so much more.

"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." ~Luke 6:38.
