Wedding Week Chaos!

As you probably know, my sister got married this past Saturday in Tallahassee!  I'm dying to share those pictures with you, but my OCD tendencies won't allow me to get my posts out of order, so I have a few others to share before I get to the wedding day itself.

Kyndall and I flew down last Tuesday, so that I could be there a few days prior to the wedding in order to help with last minute preparations.  Matthew drove down on Thursday, arriving around 10:30 that night.

Kyndall was less than angelic on the plan ride down to Florida.  Though she had been talking about "widing a pwane" for weeks, when the time actually came she was a total terror!  She did really well going through security and waiting at the gate, but the plane ride itself was a nightmare!

Telling Daddy goodbye in Nashville...........

She was in Heaven watching all of the planes from the terminal window

We had some extra time so I let her do a few fun things in the airport before heading to our gate......

I personally would like to kiss the person who invented these toddler play areas!  We often frequent the one in the mall, so I was happy to see this one in the middle of the airport.

She did GREAT as we boarded the plane......walking down the aisle giggling the entire way with excitement, just like last time.  We found our seats and then things got bad.  She immediately plopped herself down in the seat, opened her tray table and demanded "wanna nack....now!"  (I want a snack now!)  You let a kid fly two times and suddenly they turn into a high maintenance passenger!

When it was time to put on our seat belts, things just went from bad to worse.  She absolutely refused to let me put it on her......curling her knees up to her chest, kicking, screaming, pushing my hands away....you name it!  We were literally taxiing down the runway and I was STILL trying to win the physical battle that had ensued between the two of us.  She's stronger than she looks, lemme tell ya!  I was sweating bullets, not only because of the physical challenge of restraining her, but also from the sheer embarrassment of being THAT  passenger with the screaming child!  She cried, screamed and threw a fit during the entire take off.  I'm sure everyone around us probably thought she was crying out of fear, but in reality she was just ticked off at me......big time!!

I took this after I won the battle and the tantrum had stopped, temporarily.  I think the look on her face says it all.........

After the pilot turned off the seat belt sign, I reluctantly allowed her to take it off.  (Reluctant because I knew at some point it would have to go back on!)  She took advantage of her new found freedom by plundering through the seat pockets, opening and closing and opening and closing and opening and closing the tray table, jumping up and down in her seat, pulling the window shade up and down and just being a pain in general.  I have never been so embarrassed in my life!

Finally, the "nack" arrived and that bought me some time.......

As I suspected, I was forced to fight the same battle when the seat belt sign came back on.  That, paired with the fact that the flight attendant would not allow her to keep her leftover "nack" and drink made for one unhappy toddler!  We made a quick exit off the plane and found my Dad, who was waiting for us at the baggage claim.

About ten minutes into the car ride home, I looked over to see this.............

The next few days leading up to the wedding were somewhat hectic, and here's why......Thursday 5/9 was Michael's birthday (groom-to-be!), Friday 5/10 was Nonie's birthday as well as the set up and rehearsal day, Saturday was the wedding, Sunday was Mother's Day and this coming Friday is my Dad's 60th birthday which meant we had to celebrate a little early while we were still in town.  Whew!  How many family events can one family possibly squeeze into a four day window?!  Needless to say, we were BUSY!  Oh and in between all of that I managed to come down with a terrible sinus infection which landed me at TMH's Urgent Care on my second day in Tallahassee.  Nice.

We celebrated Michael's birthday with a steak dinner at my parents' house.........

"Ankle Michael" opening his gift from us

Once Michael opened all of his gifts, Kelly told Kyndall she had a surprise for her.  I caught her reaction just as she heard those words!

Tearing into her "prize"

Kelly found this book about being a flower girl, which only made Kyndall that much more excited for the days to come!  Kelly also wrote the sweetest note in the front, giving Kyndall some sound advice on finding the husband that God will someday have for her.  It was so sweet and I know it will mean even more to Kyndall as she gets older.

I didn't take many pictures over the next few days, since most of our time was spent running errands and finishing up wedding preparations.  We did manage to squeeze in a trip to the play area at the mall late one night.  Kyndall had been asking me all week to take her to the park and I felt terrible, but there really was just never any extra time.  Thursday night (I think it was??) I asked my Mom if she wanted to meet us in the food court for dinner so that we could let Kyndall play for a while.  She had a blast, as usual!

The following day was Wedding-Day-Eve!  More on that in another post!

  4. They always act like that when you have no help. I remember 2 relocation trips by plane with 2 kids. When the third relocation move came, I wanted to drive and be paid for the milage and the hotel! Is your Dad's birthday the 17th of May? Because my husbands is too and he will be 60 years old too. Funny. Enjoy your blogs, and you are in our prayers. Dina
