Getting Excited....

I'm getting SO excited about Kyndall's upcoming first birthday party!  Some may think I'm going overboard, but there are few things I ever "splurge" on, and I'm choosing this to be one of them!  No, she will not remember this in years to come, nor will she have a clue what's going on during the party.  But the way I see it, we waited a very long time for the Lord to bless us with a beautiful, healthy baby and this party is a celebration of her life and how precious her little life is to us.  (It's also a celebration that we've survived the first year---and, well, so has she for that matter! Ha!)

I've been having so much fun gathering up decorations and coming up with cute ideas for her watermelon themed party.  Many months ago (long before I should have ever been thinking about a first birthday party), I picked out her invitations on Etsy.  A few weeks back, I was finally able to order them and send them out.  Now that I know they've been received, I can share them without spoiling any surprises!  I think they turned out pretty cute, don't you??

Big thanks to my good friend Betsy for snapping the tutu picture that I used in the invitation.  She took several, and they were all precious!  Here's what I had to choose from......

Wish I could share more, but I've gotta save a few surprises for the big day!  Don't worry, I've hired a photographer for the big event and I'm sure he'll do a great job of capturing every last detail of the party!  Until then, I'll continue to feel like a kid waiting on Christmas morning!  I'm so excited!!! =)

  1. THIS IS A LOT OVER BOARD!!!!! YOU NEED TO CHILL OUT AND NOT OVER DO IT. WHO IS THIS REALLY ABOUT? YOU OR HER?

  2. AA (and your anonymous poster),
Kyndall is so lucky to have you and Matthew as her great parents. Those of us that know and love you understand the struggles that you have been through as you have gone through the process of praying for a child, dealing with many challenges to YOUR health while carrying that precious child inside of you and then caring for her during the last year. You SHOULD go overboard with her party and all of the preparations. While she will not remember the party, she will be able to experience the party through your pictures (and video). The party is about Kyndall and her special place in the lives of everyone that knows and loves her.
I love the invitation and it is proudly displayed on our refrigerator. And, I can't wait to see the "surprise" that I helped you pick out....I know that it will be adorable.
Celebrate Kyndall....celebrate being a wonderful mother and allow all of us to celebrate with you via your blog, emails and FB updates.

Anonymous, perhaps you are not from the South but, in my opinion, if you don't have something nice to say, then please don't say anything at all. AA wasn't soliciting advice or opinions on the party and the preparation.....she was sharing her joy over the big event. Your comment is hurtful to those of us who know and love AA...and you clearly do not know her at all....because, if you did, then you would love her, too.

    The end.

  3. ditto, ditto, ditto to Wondertwins!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow, I say let's have a celebration...a Thanksgiving....a party....for Kyndall!!!! Thank you Lord for trusting all of us with Kyndall's precious life! This celebration is just the beginning of many celebrations to come. Turning ONE is as important as getting married....they are all milestones worth celebrating!!

  4. As a blogger myself, let me say that there is nothing worse than a critical comment, especially one that is left anonymously. If what you are saying is rude enough that you don't even want to own up to it then you shouldn't be saying it anyway. This is Ashleigh-Anne's blog and no one is making you (whoever you are) look at it. In fact, I'm sure if she knew who you were and could block you, she would. No one wants followers like that! May Kyndall have the best, most overboard 1st birthday there ever was!!! Hope this doesn't discourage you too much from blogging, AAK. =/

  6. I love the watermelons and the colors. The invitations look great. IT IS ABOUT BOTH THE PARENTS AND THE CHILD at a first birthday because you all survived the first year :) Any parent knows that! Are you having it inside or outside the church? Excited for you... can't wait to "go alot overboard," for CampBaby.

  7. If it makes you feel any better AAK, I had a 1st Birthday Paw-ty for Hobo 2 years ago...with ridiculous invitations, dog bone shaped chocolate chip cookies, scooby snack graham crackers, milk bones for all of Hobo's friends, tennis balls, and really the list goes on and on.

I'm pretty sure life is way more fun when you find anything and everything to celebrate! I can't wait to celebrate Kyndall's birthday!!

  9. Jen,
I would LOVE to have been a part of your party!!! As I reread the blog, I just have one question...other than the reference to getting a photographer (which is not an uncommon thing), exactly WHAT did you say that would imply you are going overboard? You didn't give any details other than a pic of the invitation. So how would the anonymous poster come to the conclusion that you have gone overboard when you never said what you are doing? And besides....they must not know you and Matthew very well cause 'overboard' really means a party that was planned with a budget in mind and catching all the sales and handmaking things and borrowing things etc in order to make it cute, but not expensive!!! It is us grandparents that go OVERBOARD!!!

but she is worth it all (as is every other precious little one year old),

  10. Thanks to all of my wonderful friends and family for the sweet, supportive, uplifting comments! We are so excited about this milestone in Kyndall's life and we plan to make it a day to remember! She is the apple of our eye, our heart and soul and a true gift from the Lord. What's not to celebrate about that?! And to the anonymous coward who tried to ruin my day....you didn't succeed! In fact, you made my day better! If it hadn't been for your comment, I would probably never have received such an outpouring of kindness from my real friends. It's obvious that you are bitter about something and I hope that you get it resolved soon. It can't be a very happy or healthy way to live. Besides, didn't your Mama ever teach you that if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all?? Perhaps she didn't, so take it from THIS Mama instead!! Take your own advice and chill out.
