Fall Fun!

This past weekend Matthew's parents came up for a quick, but fun-filled visit.  Friday night, they took Kyndall out to dinner and to the outlet mall, while Matthew and I enjoyed a "date night".  (what's that?!)  We went to dinner and actually enjoyed a stress-free meal, complete with dessert!  Haven't done that in a VERY long time!

Saturday morning, Matthew continued his tradition of taking Kyndall to breakfast and his Dad joined them.  Nonie and I weren't invited, but we were ok with that.  Once they returned, we did some shopping, had lunch and then headed into downtown Charleston.  We spent several hours at the Childrens' Museum and as usual, Kyndall had a blast!

Matthew had fun too

Puppet show!

Yes, I was there too!  The one and only picture of me from the entire day at the museum.  Oh well.

After a few hours at the museum, we stopped downtown for some fresh fruit smoothies

By the time we got home from our busy day in downtown Charleston, we only had about an hour before it was time for our next adventure.  Our church hosted an elaborate fall festival, complete with real fair rides, a hot air balloon, carnival games, music, great food and a fireworks show to end the night.  We were all pretty tired, but I had already bought our tickets and we didn't want to miss out.  Kyndall started coming down with a cold throughout our busy day, but we decided to attempt the festival despite it.

Poppie was the only one brave enough to squeeze down this slide with Kyndall

Poor baby wasn't feeling good at all, but she made the best of it!

Kyndall was really into the rides, but the lines were EXTREMELY long!  She especially wanted to ride the ferris wheel (and so did I!) but that line was the longest of all.  I felt really bad, but I'll make it up to her in a few weeks when we go to the fair in Tallahassee!

She settled for riding the slide, but it took us almost an hour to stand in the line just for one ride down!

Matthew volunteered to carry her up and ride down with her.  I was pretty nervous as he navigated his way up these shaky little metal stairs while holding her!

Poppie followed behind and went down the slide next to them

Wish these pictures were better so you could see the look on her face!  She loved it!

Just as I suspected, she wanted to do it again.  There was no way we were waiting another hour for a second turn!  She didn't understand how we could wait ALL that time and it was over in 15 seconds!

She was tired (no nap all day) and didn't feel well at all, so after they had their turn on the slide we called it a night and headed home. We didn't even eat any of the yummy fair food and we missed out on the fireworks show.  We were all tired from a long day, so once we got Kyndall settled at home, Matthew and his Dad picked up take out for dinner and we just relaxed the rest of the night.

We had hoped to be at church on Sunday, but Kyndall still wasn't feeling well so we decided to stay home.  We had lunch with Matthew's parents and they left around 1:00.  We had a lot of fun this weekend, but I wish Kyndall had felt better.  We also missed out on Field Day and a pot luck dinner yesterday afternoon at the park with our Moms group.  I had been looking forward to this family event for several weeks, but she just wasn't feeling up to it so we spent the afternoon resting at home.  I'm hoping that she'll kick this cold in the next few days and we can get back to our normal routine.  She's only been sick twice in her life, so having a sick baby in our house is something we're not used to.  Here's hoping she doesn't share the love and pass it on to any of us!
