First, Aunt Kelly finally talked me into getting Kyndall's ears pierced. She's been trying to convince me for quite a while, but I kept resisting. She finally got me when she used the line "but they would look SO CUTE for her first birthday party!" So, on Monday (Labor Day), we set out for Claire's in the Governor's Square Mall. I warned Kelly ahead of time that since this was her idea, she would have to be the one to hold her while it all went down. Kyndall actually did better than I thought she would. As expected, she let out a few screams, but all it took was a quick taste of a yummy pink sucker and she was completely over it and her attention shifted to her new treat! I think the earrings look really cute and I'm glad we did it. So far she hasn't even seemed to notice them, and isn't bothered by them. Now, if Mommy can just remember to clean and turn them THREE times a day!!!
Before.....
Kelly's boyfriend Michael was so sweet to Kyndall, since Matthew wasn't there
New bling!!!
On Tuesday, Kyndall and I went over to Kris Kimel's studio for Kyndall's one year portraits. I was sooo excited about this because I love Kris's work and was excited for her to do Kyndall's shoot. Kyndall was TERRIBLE the entire time!! She was definitely not her usual smiley, happy self and Kris really had her work cut out for her. I was so embarrassed, but Kris was so patient and spent three hours working with us!! I can't wait to share the images, once I get them from her. Here are two pictures that I snapped with my own camera. They are junk compared to what she took, but at least you can have a preview!
I picked up this smash cake at Publix and Kris got some GREAT shots of her eating it!!
On Saturday, we went to Broadview Assisted Living for a Grandparents' Day celebration with my MeMe. She is my Dad's Mom, and she is Kyndall's Great Grandmother. Broadview asked us to bring pictures for a craft, which Kelly and I enjoyed making with her. They also had us "interview" her and ask her questions about her childhood. We wrote down her answers and I will keep them in Kyndall's memory box. Some of the questions included...."what was your favorite activity as a child?" MeMe answered "roller skating and throwing a ball back and forth over the top of the house". My favorite question that we asked was "what trait did you inherit from your parents?" To which MeMe answered "talking a lot---the gift of gab!" I thought that was pretty funny! She may be 91 years old, but she hasn't lost her sense of humor.
Sunday was Grandparents' Day, and it was the FIRST Grandparents' Day for my Mom and Dad, as well as Matthew's parents. We went to church with my family, and then had lunch at Logan's. Shortly after lunch, Matthew had to leave to go back to South Carolina. Kyndall and I are staying one more week!
This is Kyndall's latest trick. She does it pretty much every time I put her in the high chair, stroller, whatever. She even did it while eating her birthday cake at the party on Saturday, and everyone got a big kick out of it! I guess a girl's gotta make herself comfortable, right??
Can you say GRUMPY??
That's better!
I love this blog post.....I even sort of like the pics of me at the end...LOL!!! I do NOT like her pathetic little sad face when they pierced her ear though!!! Can't wait for the birthday pics!
