Beach Vacation Part 2---Sunday Funday

Sunday was our first full day at the beach and we didn't waste any time making our way down to the pool, and eventually the beach that day.  Unfortunately, I was greeted with a not-so-pretty sight when I picked Kyndall up out of her pack 'n play that morning.  As she lifted her little hands up for me, all I could see were four HUGE, NASTY, RED bug bites covering her pretty little face!  I screamed for Matthew to come and look and his reaction didn't make me feel any better.  One of them was in her eyebrow, which made her entire eye look all puffy and swollen.  Why was I so upset, you ask?  Oh just because we were scheduled to have family portraits taken that afternoon!!!  Arrrgggh!  I immediately texted Betsy and she reassured me that Photo Shop would take care of it, and that made me feel a little bit better!  However, I knew that for the rest of the week all of my pictures (all 1,388 of them!) would be plagued by these ugly red, swollen bumps on my beautiful baby's face.  So, this is my disclaimer---Please do your best to ignore these ugly little eye sores and know that with every picture I took, I was cringing inside at the sight of them on my camera screen!  Oh well, such is life.

Let me just say that the Puddle Jumper is one of the best inventions EVER!  It's like swimmies but better!  Kyndall had never worn any kind of floatation apparatus and I wasn't sure how she would take to this.  She was a little nervous at first, but once she learned to control her center of gravity, she was literally swimming all over the pool!  Here she is trying it out for the first time.......

My dear sweet friend Jenny Whitaker and her daughter Ali dropped off a beach vacation care package for Kyndall at my parents' house a few days before our trip.  Inside was everything you could think of to entertain a toddler at the beach!  From beach themed stickers to a bottle of sea shells to arts and crafts activities and best of all, BUBBLES!  Minnie Mouse bubbles to be exact!  Throughout the course of the week, these bubbles (as well as the other goodies) proved themselves to be very helpful in entertaining Kyndall!  Thanks, Jenny and Ali!

First day on the beach and she's got it made in the shade!!

We came in around noon and had lunch and put Kyndall down for a nap.  I normally wouldn't be so rigid with her schedule while on vacation, but I wanted her to be in a great mood for our photo shoot with Betsy later that night.  Thankfully, she slept a good 3 hours and woke up in a very pleasant mood, as usual.

When she woke up, she entertained us by riding on the ceramic turtles.......

Doing "ballet" with Aunt Kelly........

And generally just being her CUTE little spunky self!

My other babies (Whom I have significantly less patience for these days!!  My how things change!)

Getting ready to head out to our photo shoot----Oh, those bug bites!!!  =(

Betsy did a GREAT job with our pictures, but I'm still trying to decide if I want to share them on the blog or not.  I'm contemplating holding them out to use as our Christmas card pictures, so I'm just not sure yet!  But, if you know me at all, you KNOW I didn't run off to a beautiful sunset photo shoot on the beach without a camera of my own!  So, although these aren't nearly as great as Betsy's, here's a little teaser.  (Big thanks to Aunt Kelly for tagging along and helping Betsy get some great smiles from Kyndall, and also for taking these shots of us after Betsy's shoot was over)

Wish this one wasn't blurry!  Love this!

We ended the night with Mom's yummy taco salad for dinner

And a plate of fresh strawberries for Miss Picky

Thanks to Betsy for the beautiful pictures (which I highly doubt I'll be able to keep to myself!!) and especially for all of the time put into editing those dadgum bug bites out of every single shot!  Have I mentioned I hate mosquitos??

More to come......!!

  1. LOVE this. I tried to comment on the last blog entry (day one) but couldn't get it to go through. Kyndall looks just as cute with her bites as she does without. :) And, so happy that the puddle jumper worked! I am telling you what--it was THE BEST investment that we made. Makes all the difference in the pool, doesn't it?
I can't wait to see more beach pictures. I am dreading the Christmas card photo fiasco for the Ficklings. Sigh.
    Keep the posts coming!!
