The FAIR!!!

One of my most favorite things about Fall is going to the North Florida Fair each year!  I can remember my parents taking me as a kid, and then going with my friends as a teenager.  I have to say, seeing the excitement of the lights, sounds and smells through my own daughter's eyes tops any of those memories from the past!

This was the first year that we actually let Kyndall ride any of the rides, so it proved to be even more entertaining for all of us than last year when she wasn't even walking yet.  She had quite the entourage following her around as myself, Matthew, Grammy, G-Daddy, Nonie, Poppie, Aunt Kelly and Uncle Michael all wanted to see her experience it!

As I was loading these pictures onto my computer earlier, I came across this one and had to laugh.  I was trying to get a picture of the surroundings but apparently these clowns thought I really wanted a picture of them.  Goofy teenagers.

Everyone knows I go to the fair for one reason---The FOOD!!!  Fat kid here and not ashamed of it!  I enjoyed my usual---A large corn dog and later a bag of hot kettle corn.  HEAVEN.  Matthew had some kind of calzone thingie which he later greatly regretted!! =)

My little animal lover had so much fun feeding and petting all of the animals.  I stood by with my camera in one hand and the hand sanitizer in the other!!

My second favorite thing about the fair (besides the food) is the pig race!  You CAN'T go to the fair without watching the pig race!  Just like last year, Kyndall was chosen as a "contestant" in the pig race!!  She was given pig #2, "Tammy Swynette".  Sadly, Tammy proved to be a bit lazy and did not win the race.  Last year Kyndall's pig "Lindsay Loham" won the race, which earned Kyndall a blue ribbon and a stuffed pink pig which she still sleeps with every night!  Oh well, there's always next year!

Ready to cheer for Tammy Swynette!

As you can see, Tammy (#2) was slow coming out of the pen.  I guess that Oreo cookie the pig wrangler was offering at the end of the race wasn't tempting enough!

Next, it was on to the kiddie rides!  I bought Kyndall an armband so that she could ride unlimited and that was the best decision I made all night!  She rode and rode and rode.....!

Waiting for the ride to start........

Kyndall's fan club

She loved it!!  I have no idea who this other little girl is, but I wish I could find out so I could give her Mama these pictures!  Priceless!

Cheering section

Ok, this next set of shots seriously cracks me up!!!  Note the changes in expression on this kid's face as time goes on!  Poor guy got stuck with Kyndall who obviously doesn't understand the concept of personal boundaries or gravity!  OMGosh hilarious!!

He started out smiling......

Getting a little annoyed........

Kyndall :  "Isn't this GREAT?!"
Little Boy : "No, actually this sucks!  Please get off of me!"

Of course, she drove the pink one!

Besides the food and the pig races, THIS is my other favorite thing about the Fair!!!!  I LOVE it!!

Me, Kelly, my Mom, Kyndall and Matthew all rode the ferris wheel together.  Matthew was none too thrilled about it, but he did it anyway.

Nonie literally stood at the gate and BEGGED me not to put Kyndall on it!

I love the look on Matthew's face!  He was scared out of his mind!  I, on the other hand, couldn't be happier!

Matthew's scared face, my happy face, and Kyndall's curious face

"Maybe if I close my eyes......."

Not scared!

Here's the ironic thing : My wimpy husband who was terrified of the ferries wheel wanted to ride THIS!!!!  How does that make any sense at all?!

So he and my sister rode it together.  NUTS.  It was after this ride that Matthew started regretting that calzone thingie!  Can't imagine why!

We all know these games are rigged, but you can't go to the fair without wasting a few bucks in hopes of winning a giant stuffed animal that you don't really need or want!!

When they hand you a basket with THAT many rings, you automatically know it's gotta be rigged!

This ride is very deceiving!  I did NOT like it, despite the fact that it was a "kiddie ride"!!

"No hands!"

More money flushing

Grammy's prize

Only at the Fair............

What's a fried fat ball anyway?!  I'm  not sure I even want to know!

This picture was taken on our way out of the gate at approximately 11:30 pm!!  As you can see, we were all pretty tired!

We all had a great time and made some fun memories!  It was the perfect way to end our time in Tallahassee.

  2. Ok girl, spill--what setting was your camera on for the artsy ones?? If it was manual you did an AWESOME job! I love, love all the ferris wheel shots. Did you use your flash or what? And what about the ones of her on the rides? The ride you called deceiving looked like that little bus that goes round and round? Koby got really really scared on that one year-can't remember which.

    1. Thanks! Yes, the ones of the ferris wheel were on manual, and a few of the ones of her on the rides were as well. However, having a subject that is moving FAST and also poorly lit made it pretty hard! The ferris wheel was easier since it moves so slowly. Plus, I actually wanted to enjoy seeing her on the rides rather than playing with my camera all night, so I settled for Auto on a lot of them. Yes, the deceiving ride was that stupid fire truck/bus/whatever that goes round and round!! It made my stomach drop SO bad! Definitely NOT getting back on that one! Kyndall didn't seem to mind, but I hated that feeling!

    2. Oh, and no flash on the manual shots! It really does make a huge difference in how much prettier the pictures turn out!!

  5. Great pictures Ashleigh-Anne! I love all the shots of Kyndall smiling as she smushes the little boy on the ride, haha! Great pictures of the ferris wheel...you are very talented! My mom begged us not to take Lily on it last year too..must be a worried Grandma thing. :)
