I guess I should start by saying how the trip down here went. It wasn't bad at all. Kyndall did really well in the car, despite the 7 hour drive with nobody in the backseat to entertain her. She got a little antsy when we were only about 70 miles outside of Tallahassee and I wanted so bad to push on through and just get here, but I ended up stopping at a rest area and letting her sit on the picnic table and enjoy a jar of bananas while she got some fresh air. I think it did her good, and she did great the rest of the way home. I think the Lord knew what he was doing when he gave us a baby that actually enjoys being in the car, considering the fact that we make the Charleston/Tallahassee trek quite often!
We arrived a little after 5 pm and as I suspected, my Mom and my sister were waiting in the driveway like little kids, just dying to see us come around the corner. (And by "us" I mean Kyndall!!!) My Mom fixed a yummy roast for dinner, complete with fresh field peas, mashed potatoes, biscuits and sweet tea. What a nice welcome home meal!! Here are a few pictures of our first night at home with the family.....
Kyndall was so tired that she slid right off her Boppy pillow and fell asleep with her head in the middle of it!
On Tuesday, Kyndall and I met Matthew's Mom for lunch at TGIFriday's and then she went with me to my hair appointment to help me with Kyndall. It was so nice having the extra hands all day!
Here's Kyndall, all dressed up and ready for her busy day!
Lunch with Nonie.....
Kyndall ate her lunch at Mary's hair shop while I got my hair "did"....
Pretty soon she'll be sitting in this chair for her first haircut with Mary!
Next, we made a stop at Broadview Assisted Living to visit with my MeMe who is 91 years old. My Dad said she had been asking when Kyndall and I were coming into town for days and days, so we made sure to go by and visit her the first chance we got. Bless her heart....she insisted that we sit outside on the porch to visit, and we all just about melted into puddles from the heat. Just look at how sweaty and red-faced Kyndall was! But, despite that, we enjoyed a nice visit with MeMe and she was very happy to see us!
That night, we met up with my cousin Jennifer and her Mom Susan for dinner at Sonny's. Jennifer is more like a good friend than just a cousin to me. She is one of the MANY reasons I wish we lived in Tallahassee. She is so sweet and so thoughtful and the two of us have a lot in common. Knowing that Kyndall is CRAZY about balloons, she was sweet enough to surprise her with one at the restaurant, along with an adorable outfit that I can't wait to put her in! And if that wasn't enough, she also fed Kyndall her bottle so that I could enjoy my dinner with two hands for a change! What a treat!!
Kyndall was one tired girl after such a busy day, but she was NOT letting go of that balloon for anything!! =)
This picture was actually taken before Kyndall and I headed out to dinner, but I wanted to include it because I thought it was a cute shot of her and my Dad. To me, they look like best buds in this picture!
Today (Wednesday) was just as busy as the day before! Kyndall and I met up with several of my girlfriends and their babies for Music Time at the public library. I always hear my friends talking about going on Wednesday mornings and I'm always wishing I could be there with them. It was so much fun and there were babies and Mommies EVERYWHERE! I saw so many familiar faces and got to visit with some great company while Kyndall enjoyed the music and dancing.
Kyndall played while I got ready this morning. She's thinking "Why are we up this early?? We're usually still asleep at 9:30 in the morning!" (Don't judge me---we like our sleep!)
Bright-eyed and ready for a fun day!
I think she was a little overwhelmed with all of the babies and noises at first....
Kyndall and Koby
Mr. Gary, who the kids seem to love!!
High school friends and our baby girls (AA and Kyndall, Laura and Lily Kate, Jodi and Channing)
Betsy and her niece Julia
Stacy and Julia, Koby, Betsy and Elijah, AA and Kyndall and Laura with Lily Kate. What a bunch of CUTIES!!!
After music time, we met up with my Mom for lunch at Bagel Bagel. Betsy and her boys and Laura and Lily Kate came too, but somehow I didn't get any pictures of them at the restaurant.
After lunch, we went to my Mom's office so that she could show Kyndall off to all of her co-workers and friends. We made a stop in to see our most favorite of all, Mrs. Shanna! Mrs. Shanna has been my Mom's very best friend for the past 23 years. I know it's been 23 years because she was my Kindergarten teacher many moons ago, and that's how they met!
Koby and Kyndall, ready to hit the pool!
Kyndall and Elijah, holding hands!!!
My favorite!!!
I love how Koby is creeping in the background like a little shark!
Soooo cute!!!!
Toes!
What a life!
Tonight after our pool guests left, my Dad grilled hamburgers and my sister came over for dinner. It was her 1/2 birthday today, so that makes her 24 and 1/2!! I bought cupcakes and we celebrated. Anything for cupcakes.
As you can see, Kyndall and I are enjoying our time in Tallahassee VERY much!!! It just makes me wish we lived here even more! I am missing home more than ever, so starting NOW, this is becoming a serious issue of prayer for our family! We really miss Matthew, but we're looking forward to him joining us on Friday night when he comes into town for my 10 year Lincoln High School reunion! I'm really looking forward to it! We have a few more fun things planned between now and the class reunion, so I shall return with more pictures and stories to tell in a few days! =)

Kyndall went down for a nap when we got home, and that's where she stayed for over THREE HOURS! Exhausted doesn't even begin to describe it!
As if we hadn't squeezed enough into our schedule for the day, we hoped the rain would hold off so that Betsy could come over with her boys to swim. Once all the babies got their naps out, Betsy headed over this way and we enjoyed a late afternoon swim in my parents' pool. I'm warning you, these next pictures are beyond cute, so get ready!!! (And there are a lot of them, so be patient!)Koby and Kyndall, ready to hit the pool!

AA, this post made me cry. Seriously. I just love it. I know that you are having such a great time at home. Kyndall is ADORABLE. I love the pool pictures. Her zucchini (that is what Jimmy calls bikinis) is so cute and the pictures look like professional shots. I hope that you take some of those and turn those into canvas pictures. I have a few mom sites that have been sending me coupons for canvas pictures--I will have to send them to you. LOVE IT. Love your mom. Love the family. We are coming to Tallahassee.
ReplyDeleteLove the picture of your dad and Kyndall. So sweet.

Next time I'm having a lousy day, I'm going to look at these pictures that I know are sure to make me smile. What a great day! Not only is Kyndall cute as she could be, but she behaves like an angel too. We love you guys!
ReplyDeleteI miss Tallahassee too!
ReplyDeleteHow do you get your pictures so big?
I enjoyed the comments on this blog as much as the blog itself. It warms my heart to see you enjoy yourself when you are in Tally...keeping those lifelong friendships alive is so rewarding. Thanks to Betsy for supplying some extra 'props' (her cute little boys) to make the pictures even more adorable!!!
ReplyDeleteLove ya'll all bunches,
Grammy
